Alcoa Pinjarra Refinery Excavations

In 2012 Gavin Jackson CRM conducted excavations, and analysis of archaeological material, of four previously recorded Aboriginal archaeological sites to assist Alcoa in applying for section 18 consent. The project was undertaken in response to Alcoa’s proposal to expand its operation at its Pinjarra Refinery, in the southwest region of Western Australia. As part of the Project seventeen Aboriginal archaeological sites were recorded to enable the lodging of a section 18 notice, four of these sites were excavated and the remaining thirteen shovel tested.
